Nikon ZR

Affordable and easy-to-use Ciak

The expertise of Nikon, a world leader in photography products and services, and RED, a leading manufacturer of professional digital cinema cameras (acquired by Nikon), has led to the creation of a little gem: the ZR “all-in-one” camera with a cinematic soul. Designed for filmmakers, videographers and creators who are always on the move, the ZR is the lightest cinema camera currently available.
An agile tool for professionals or a delightful luxury for novice film and photography enthusiasts, it is competitively priced at £2449 and lightweight at 540 grams (body only). Thanks to its full-frame 6K sensor, renowned RED colour science, large 4-inch variable-angle monitor and 32-bit float audio built into the camera, the new machine is capable of capturing clean footage and audio without the need for external equipment.
"We are witnessing a philosophy of professional union. Nikon, with its 100-year history of photography, and RED, which has rewritten the rules in the world of cinema, have joined forces: complementary technologies for a new path. For ZR, we have identified three macro targets: more than a phone, more structured video productions and handheld cinema", explains Roberto Bachis, Training Specialist Nital during the press conference on 16 September in Milan at the Magna Pares Hotel. "From carefully planned scenes to dynamic run-and-gun style shooting, the Nikon ZR is the perfect tool for those who want to elevate the quality of their video productions. Internal recording up to 6K/60p and a comprehensive set of professional video formats offer the flexibility to suit virtually any platform or workflow".
Features include an exclusive R3D NE codec that brings RED colour science to Nikon and a dual ISO 800/6400 that maintains the sensor's dynamic range of over 15 stops, ensuring maximum detail even in highlights and shadows. Nikon products are distributed in Italy by Nital: www.nikon.it and www.nikonstore.it
RED Digital Cinema products are distributed by Fowa: www.fowa.it/red.
