In Lugano with a Roman heart

Enjoying excellent Roman cuisine among the glamorous venues of downtown Lugano is a stylish experience to be had at Vitti, a restaurant and cocktail bar with an oriental design that the www.deluxu.it magazine tested. In the well-known Swiss resort of Canton Ticino, a center of financial business and cultural destination here are dishes reserved for lovers of beauty and good food for all tastes and ages. The owners, Antonio and Veronica, appear strong with an entrepreneurial flair inherited from the family that already runs Vitti San Lorenzo in Lucina, one of Rome's iconic squares, just a few meters from Via del Corso. "We have been in Lugano for almost ten years, trying to please even the most demanding customer by offering quality dishes with the genuine flavors of the past. My sister and I invest a lot of time in this restaurant, updating the proposals and bringing a bit of Romanity to Ticino", says Angelo Vitti, a young entrepreneur who is welcoming and determined in his business.
The dishes are appealing. Among the appetizers we recommend the Swiss beef tartare, among the first courses the Roman take on tagliolini al nero di seppia with cacio e pepe sauce or Paccheri all'Astice.
Risotto lovers can enjoy a sought-after blueberry risotto. For main courses, all the meat fillets are excellent, with the duck-crusted wrapped pork being particularly tasty. For fish lovers the Tuna Tataki with Tomato Gazpacho, steamed black rice and soy mayonnaise. Typical Roman cuisine varies: spaghetti alla carbonara, Mezze maniche all'Amatriciana with pork cheek, Tomato sauce and Pecorino Romano DOP, Bigoli alla Gricia or Linguine alla Trasteverina. Chef Mauro Ranieri, a native of Pavia with established experience between the historic Savini in Milan and starred chefs Andrea Berton, Carlo Cracco and Matteo Torretta, favors local raw materials, is skilled from appetizers to desserts and can expertly recommend the perfect wine with Italian, French, and Swiss labels to the most extravagant dish.
The bar at Vitti Lugano boasts a list of 70 different drinks and is a nice location for young people. Cocktails assembled with quality ingredients and modern product processing techniques: smoking, flavoring, airs and velvets mixed with perfumes, oils, spices, essences and even flowers. Here's the Gin Tonic with added basil, sage and pepper, the revisited Rum-based Negroni with a dusting of fondant and cocoa liqueur and the sweet raspberry Clover Club with homemade black pepper tincture. The location is also ideal for tastings, themed dinners, live music, DJ sets or exclusive events. Website www.vittilugano.ch
